Eyes

Doodles that arised from the boredom of some presentations I had to sit through.. Drawing the same eye from different angles and in different expressions was the objective.

Ballpoint Barbarian

A rough pen sketch, from way back. The sketch could have used some cast shadow, but this is the way I found it and since this blog is more about rough sketches I decided not to fiddle with it anymore...

Swingin' the Sword

This one is an oldie...! Orignal sketch in pen and marker, very quick and dirty overpaint in photoshop.

Car quickie

Digital sketch (photoshop). I forbid myself to use ctrl+z..! A sketch should be loose and vivid,
undoing every line untill I get it just right, just doesn't work for me. It kills my sketches. Plus it takes up more time. Nothing about this is perfect, nor does it have to be. Reaching an overall statement was the goal of this exercise.

Animal sketches

I should practice animal drawing more...

Design sketches

Some sketches for a design project I'm working on right now. All were plain ballpoint pen sketches, the coloring was done in photoshop.

Leopoldina

A portrait study of mestre leopoldina, a legendary master of capoeira. Digital sketch.

Sitting

Did this one a while ago. It's not perfect, but it was fun practice. Done in pencil and marker.

These were done for a friend of mine, for his graduation project. He asked me if I could make some illustrations, and he actually used a lot of my work in his final presentation, including these. What's so interesting is that these skestches, although being so very rough, had the most impact on the audience!
It's important to not underestimate the power of stylistics in your drawings. Some looseness can be a great asset to give images more impact.

Car sketch sheet (marker)

Yes, I study industrial design. We like cars, and sketching this rough with nothing but two markers is always fun.
Scanned it in photoshop, and added some color. I think adds just a bit extra, but for a few mouseclicks effort it might be worth it. I don't know.. It's what you prefer I guess.

Male pose studies (pen & ink)

Not much to say about this... Just some practice.

Face studie 1 (pen)

Ideation sketches for a project that was eventually canceled.. Ah well, was fun to do anyway.

Face studies 2 (pen & ink)

Human Faces are fun; you can really stretch and squeeze all features and it will still look like a face. Although a comical one..
